Bad Hair Day?

Bad Hair Day

Even flowers can have a ‘bad hair day’ But look at how beautiful they are.
We need to remember that we are created by the same God that created the beautiful flowers and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, including our bad hair days!

Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (NIV)

Heir to the Regal Throne

So, it looks like Sir Regal Rabbit of Cornwall has been busy, as rabbits are known to be. This morning, from my window, I saw this little guy in the bushes. I ran to get my camera (which was not far; it has found a home on my coffee table), changed my lens and snuck outside. I think I will call him Earl (of Cornwall)

Earl

I saw him out again about an hour later but decided to get a shot from inside the house because he had seemed a bit skittish when I had gone out earlier. Hopefully he will get used to me soon because outside photos are better.

Fun with Photography

DSCF9505

In my photography class we headed outside for a night shoot. Our teacher scheduled this event to line up with the full moon, which was great.

We took pictures down by the water, then headed up to the streets.

These ones were taken with a longer exposure to capture the head and tail lights streaking.

This past weekend, I went to visit my in laws and low and behold… another subject to shoot (with a camera)

I would have like to capture this shot from outside but I was sure that I would scare him off. This was taken through the kitchen window. I’m thinking of using this one as my ‘portrait’ photo for my final assignment.

Going Green!

Image

I got a juicing recipe for kale from a fellow blogger (http://juicingmyms.blogspot.com/) and I tried it out last week with quite surprising results. I liked it!

Today I wanted to make another. Now here’s the crazy part. Remember the seeds I had sown a few weeks ago? Well the cat grass that was meant for my son’s cat got left behind from his recent spring break visit. Since then it has grown to about 8-10 inches and I did not want to toss it. So I googled the stuff and found out that it is NOT just for cats. Hurray! I did end up tossing it…in the juicer!

Today’s Green Glass contained

5 smaller kale leaves and stems, 1/2 a cucumber, a good handful of ‘cat’ grass and 2 green apples (I like it sweeter)

Mmmm, so good!

Seeds, Seeds, and More Seeds

Last year, my youngest son (who will graduate from college this spring!) helped me start a garden. He did all the hard ground breaking work, I purchased and planted and we both looked after it with plenty of TLC. I was unsure of the timing of when to start plants indoors so I picked up some gardening books from the library a few weeks ago so I’d  be well prepared for my garden this year. Since then, it seems that everything has to do with seeds! Of course I purchased some and even planted some recently but that’s not all. I was given a book to read called ‘The Seed’, a novel by Tempe Brown. http://amzn.to/x1OU0C  This book is amazing and I highly recommend it! Now you have heard it said that things come in three’s, so here is the third; My pastor is, and has been for a few weeks, teaching on Seed. With reference to Jesus being the Seed (as does the book by Tempe Brown) and also about the parable of the sower who goes out to sow. Mark 4: 1-32  Again all about seed, good ground, not so good ground and how they all produce.

Jesus is always so good to teach us things that we can relate to and understand. So, right now it is seed time and I shall sow some seeds.

Above is Cat Grass is for my son’s cat. He has a lot of fur and hairballs so I hope this will help him.

Thyme

I used a candy canister to grow some thyme

These were all planted on Feb 3rd and so far, the cat grass is about an inch high and the cilantro just poked through.  In the mean time, I will keep on sowing!

I Love Visitors!!

Yesterday, I was washing dishes when something caught my eye through the window in front of me.

A pair of ducks flew into our pool and landed! I got so excited and grabbed my cell phone so I could send a picture to my daughter. I enjoyed them for a few more minutes, sent the text with a picture and went back in to finish cleaning up the kitchen. A few minutes later my husband came home and I quickly told him to look in the pool. He was impressed, of course, just not as giddy as myself. He asked me if I had taken pictures. It was at that moment that I remembered I had a camera. While finishing up in the kitchen I was going over and over in my mind the dilemma of how I would get the photos from my cell onto the computer. I have had problems in the past doing so with all the usual ways of transferring not working out.  Duh, use another device!

Happy once again, I asked Steve if I could feed them. Personally, I really did not mind if they returned again and again but maybe he would~ since he is the pool boy. I was granted permission and ran to get bread and the camera.

So, Here they are~

They stayed for a while longer before moving on. I wonder if they’ll ever return…I did give them ample reason to revisit!

Update: They DID come back, at about the exact time as last night!
